"Wine, Women. and Shoes", held Saturday, April 28 at the Back Bay Events Center in Boston, was a huge success! The Healing Garden raised sufficient funds to break ground for their much needed expansion and construction will commence this fall. Fanny Barry participated in the fashion show with 11 other women. All the women have links to breast cancer, either personal or through family and friends. The show, which higlighted spring fashions from four prestigious Boston fashion retailers: Tess of Newton Center, Sumi Seo and The Studio, also of Newton Center and Sarah Campbell from Boston's South End. The fashions were coordinated with shoes from Nordstroms. The show embodied That Barry Girl Foundations' goal, showing how lives affected by breast cancer can "thrive, not just survive" and beat the disease by remaining vibrant and beautiful. The event included a prestigious shoe sale, a live auction, a silent wine auction and the fasion show. For Fanny's favorite pictures of the event, visit our photo link. The Healing Garden gives women with breast cancer access to complimentary treatments for healing including the healing found in the natural environment offered in the Garden's acres of nature and meditation gardens. That Barry Girl was proud to volunteer to support the Healing Garden's capitol campaign to expand their facility. The Garden offers a range of complementary therapies, psychosocial support, educational programs and access to nature for those experiencing breast cancer. Fanny believes that the Garden's mission is compatible with That Barry Girl's philosophy and that it offers an important resource for women with breast cancer regardless of economic circumstances.
